Resources for Information
I hope this website will serve as a good source of information to all Tiger Cub and Terriers owners and enthusiasts and along with this, there is also The Triumph Owners' Motorcycle Club (TOMCC) which has a dedicated Tiger Cub and Terrier Section (TC&T Section) with a monthly report on all things Tiger Cub and Terrier in the magazine. Both will continue to serve as the main sources of reliable information, help with technical matters and provide opportunities for social contact between fellow enthusiasts.
The Triumph Owners' Motorcycle Club has The Tiger Cub and Terrier Section which provides a number of services to its members. Two of the most popular being the Triumph Motorcycle Dating Service and the Club Archives, which along with a monthly Tiger Cub and Terrier report in the TOMCC magazine featuring stories from owners and machine information and an active TC&T Section members forum on the TOMCC website, gives owners access to a full range of services, help and information.
To contact the TC&T Section, please email: [email protected] The TOMCC is accredited by the DVLA to issue Certificates of Age on Triumph motorcycles. So if you have a Tiger Cub or Terrier motorcycle that has never been registered, or one that the DVLA do not have any records for, and you wish to retain the original (or obtain an age-related) registration number plate then you need this service. Vehicle registrations began to be computerised back in the 1970's but before then registrations were carried out by County Councils or Borough Councils. During the course of computerisation many registrations were either lost or not transferred by the various councils. The result being many vehicles were not listed on the new register. In order to retain an original (or obtain an age-related) registration number you need to apply for a Dating Certificate, and for Triumph motorcycles the TOMCC is the authorised vehicle enthusiasts club. |
To apply for a Date Certificate for your Tiger Cub or Terrier you need to get as much documentation on the machine you can along with as many photographs as possible. As a minimum you should have photos of both sides of the bike along with the Engine Number and Frame Number. Original Bills of Sale and/or Service documents will also help. In fact, any dated information you can supply on your machine will make your case that much stronger.
Once you have got all your evidence, send it to the TOMCC's Machine Registrar - details and costs are listed on the TOMCC website - www.tomcc.org
Once you have your Dating Certificate, it can then be sent to the DVLA along with the appropriate forms to obtain the authorisation to use the original registration number. More information about registering your motorcycle can be obtained from the Gov.uk website.

The TOMCC Archives is also a valuable source of information on Triumph motorcycles. There are numerous original workshop manuals, spares catalogues, factory records, and other information. This reference material is used by the Club to answer all sorts of queries - such as original colour schemes, factory fitted accessories, and what parts go with what engine and frame.
What all the above means is that through this website and the Tiger Cub and Terrier section of the TOMCC, these machines have one of the best support networks of any classic motorcycle.
