48 Years with my Cub

Here is my 1961 T20 Tiger Cub. I purchased this bike in 1972 for the grand sum of £15, it was in a neglected state but it was all there except for a battery box cover and a chain gauge.
I was told that it was a Daytona but when I saw it was a Cub I didn't want to buy it. When I kicked it over it actually had a spark so I thought I would take a chance and I parted with my £15. It was cleaned up and repainted using spray cans and put back on the road. It was used for some years but in 2005 I decided to get it repainted professionally and also have parts re-chromed. |
In all my time of ownership it has only let me down 3 times, the first time was when I first put it back on the road.
I had connected 2 wires from the alternator the wrong way round so as soon are the battery went flat the bike stopped. The second time it was dirt in the carburettor, the last time was a simple puncture. It has been on display on the TOMCC stand at the NEC classic car and bike show. I wonder if anyone else has owned a Cub for longer than 48 years? |
